Newtonbrook Men
“Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.” Luke 14:15
The Newtonbrook Men meet on the second Tuesday evening from January to April and October and November at Newtonbrook United Church in the Fellowship Room. Members of the Northminster United Church also regularly attend the meetings.
The focus of the group is fellowship, sharing dinner together, listening to informative speakers, and financial support to specifically chosen church projects. The Newtonbrook Men’s group also has the responsibility for the yearly sale of United Church calendars.
Speakers bring a wide range of experiences and interests. The group is able to benefit from the rich resources of members of Newtonbrook United Church, who bring their knowledge and passion to the table. In the past, inspiring speakers have included:
• Greg Madeley of the Christian Charity “Hands Across the Nation”
• Vern Edquist of Northminster United Church, sharing a historical journey of life in Toronto
• Ron Manson with personal insights into the early years of CBC
• Harold Taylor with progress of the Canadian Aviation industry, including CanadaArm
• Rev. Cynthia Scott and Lin Scott sharing their journey to South American countries
• Lt. Alfred Lai with his experiences with the Canadian Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan
All male members of both Newtonbrook and Northminster United Church congregations are welcome to attend. There is no membership fee, only the payment for the cost of dinner and a speaker.
