Youth Ministry

“Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” ~ 1 Timothy 4:12
Retreat at Chehalis Lodge in the Fraser Valley
Newtonbrook United Church’s Youth Group has a busy exciting time. Up until September 2008, they were a part of the Common Ground Youth Ministries (a joint ministry of Leaside, The Donway Covenant, Jubilee, Mosaic, Newtonbrook and Timothy Eaton United Churches). where thirty to forty youth got together regularly for events.  Since then, the NUC Youth Group meets approximately every other Friday, and has extended an invitation to any youth in CGYM to attend. To find out what’s going down at the next scheduled meeting, please check out the on-line calendar.

Retreat at Chehalis Lodge in the Fraser Valley
Nine youth from Common Ground Youth Ministry went to British Columbia to join with youth from Westminster Presbytery for a retreat at Chehalis Lodge in the Fraser Valley. The group learned about challenging empire, both in Jesus' time and today, through singing, playing and worshipping together. There was also lots of fun, including climbing the rock wall, the rope course, hiking and cooperative games. Check out the highlights (and flat tire lowlights!) in Newtonbrook’s Summer 2008 newsletter.
